Quick behind the scenes video of the shoot set up with my huawei p10.

I knew from the offset that this was going to be an interesting shoot. For a start, the agency behind it – Three Core Media – was run by my mate and former business partner Zack. And if you know Zack, you know he likes to do things big. Ask him for a print ad and you'll get a billboard, enquire over a video and invariably you’ll come away with TVC, so I knew this one would be fun.
(Side note. During one of our meetings, a client asked if I could shoot aboard one of their shipping vessels. “Yes sure we can.” I said to which Zack added “Rob can even dive down and get shots of the submersible if you want”. Now, it’s important to point out that 1. the submersibles were operating 50+meters below sea level and 2. the only diving I had ever done -- in my life -- was in the bath).
Anyway true to form what started out as a simple talent shoot (where we would do some photo-shopping on to stock images) turned out to be a full-on 2 day production. It was great. I was shooting cars. Not nice glossy, expensive cars, but cars that had been smashed up! And I was shooting in a big studio, with a big crew. Fun. fun. fun.
SHOOT: DAY ONE
A full day of shooting the talents that will be used at the 'faces' of the smile campaign. Shot in the studio at my home. Four Talents, Stylist, MUA, AD, CD, Client, Account Exec.
Simple set up. Splash some light on the background with a couple of octas (not ideal, but they were already set up and in position and I was being lazy), a profoto deep brolly directly above with a silver reflector to bounce for the shadows under chin. Shot with an 85mm 1.4 on a Nikon D4s, tethered to a 15" MacBook Pro running CP1.
